As our partnership with C.L. Finlan Insurance began, and our Discovery phase evolved, we were faced with an interesting question – one that actually many long-time businesses face. How do we leverage over 100 years in the market, but with a fresh and modern approach? How do your honor your past, while appealing to evolving generations? While staying true to Finlan's personalized customer approach, and keeping a keen eye on budget and cost management, we got to work to showcase their brand message and inherent value through updated digital means.

What the Ignite XDS team quickly learned about our partners at C.L. Finlan Insurance, is that 100 years in business didn’t mean their ideas and methods weren’t cutting-edge. In fact, they were just the opposite – providing modern solutions to the changing needs of their community. Our goal was clear: blend traditional values, extensive industry knowledge, and a hard-working, motivated team, with an updated visual appearance, modern communication, and simplicity, for a brand that has broad appeal. Make it simple. Make it fresh. But always honor the founding principles of the organization.


When you go back to the basics, to the most simple aspects of any scenario, you oftentimes find the most important elements. In the case of Finlan Insurance, we found a sincere and honest respect for customer service, and a commitment to ensuring their clients were always well served with very competitive products. From the perspective of brand, our mission was to bring that sense of security alive in their new branding. To communicate this, we focused on colors that would convey confidence, messaging that would tell a real and emotionally compelling story, and around design that honored historical elements with a simple modern feel.

So often, a website is the first exposure a new prospect has to a brand. This is particularly true in the insurance industry, and Finlan Insurance wanted to ensure that both their new opportunities and current customers were well served with an easy-to-navigate web experience, no matter what type of device they were using. In addition to building a fully responsive website platform, several integrations with third-party providers were employed to offer a seamless experience between the customer, Finlan, and the insurance carriers. Security and safe data transmission were also critical parts of the project.

To complete the brand update, the Ignite XDS team delivered a series of collateral items that would allow the Finlan Insurance team to continue to uphold a cohesive brand appearance across print, digital, and messaging requirements as needed into the future. It's our mission to ensure the team has the materials they need to be successful and to uphold the new established branding. These marketing collateral materials included: a detailed Brand Guidebook, re-designed and sourced business papers, presentation materials, social media branding, digital assets, and other marketing collateral/consultation as needed.
